KPV vial. For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
KPV is a synthetic tripeptide made up of three amino acids: lysine (K), proline (P), and valine (V). It has the molecular formula C16H30N4O4, a molecular weight of 342.43 g/mol, and CAS number 67727-97-3. KPV corresponds to positions 11-13 of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), a 13-amino-acid neuropeptide produced in the pituitary gland. It represents the C-terminal fragment — the last three residues at the tail end of the alpha-MSH sequence. KPV is classified as a melanocortin-derived peptide fragment. It is supplied as a white to off-white lyophilized powder, soluble in water at 1 mg/mL or greater, and requires reconstitution with bacteriostatic water before laboratory use.
